The Adventures of Dave, Lindsay, Cora and Edie

Here's how the day went: Drawing with new sidewalk chalk on the back deck, play-doh time with Willa (who slumber partied at our house with her family), berry picking then a little party with Uncle Brent, TT, Grandy and Bev. Not a bad birthday if you ask me! And today, we're heading out for a roadtrip to Idaho and Montana to visit family and friends....

Dave likes to say that our summer so far is liking being at Summer Camp because we're constantly doing something different. Cora is having so much fun (and so are we) and Edie is along for the ride.... A few weekends back, we headed to our friend's lake house for some relaxing, biking, waterskiing and swimming. After two weeks of swim lessons, Cora was a brave little swimmer and got in the cold lake with her Dad. *Also included are some new pics of sweet little Edie. Sometimes you can get her to smile so those big dimples come out!

It finally feels like summer around here and we're lovin' it! We went berry picking and to "farm tunes" out on Sauvie Island. We went hiking in Forest Park. And today, we headed to Willa's birthday party and did a little swimming in their kiddie pool. I've also thrown in a photo of our girls in their matching outfits, courtesy of their Grandma TT of course!

We've been keeping busy the last few weeks as we adjust to our new world - man to man defense parenting! Edie is now almost four weeks old and spends most of her time eating and sleeping. At night, she sleeps for 2 1/2 - 3 hour stretches, thankfully. Cora is on the run constantly so we try to come up with new activities and outings everyday to keep her busy (and out of trouble). We met her friends, Eva and Teddy, at the Zoo last week, had a playdate with her buddy, Willa, and currently have her enrolled in daily swim lessons. We also headed out to the Oregon Coast for our first family camping trip in our VW Van, aka "Stan the Van."

Here's the quick and dirty....I was dilated to a 4 at my midwife appointment on Thursday but Dave had a lab final on Friday morning that couldn't be rescheduled (priorities!) so I hoped to at least make it through Friday. We had my mom spend the night Friday night "just in case" and were so glad we did because my water broke around 11:30pm. My midwife had us so freaked out about a very quick delivery that we headed to the hospital right away even though I only felt minor contractions. They checked us in and we waited.....and waited...but nothing happened. We tried sleeping in our hospital room but were fairly unsuccessful at that and we were BORED out of our minds, frankly. It was the most gorgeous day that Portland had seen since September so we did some brisk walking around the hospital to get things going but nothing happened. At 10:30am the midwife convinced me to try a small dose of Pitocin and that go things going. I had been reluctant to do Pitocin becaus...

After Dave flew home, Grandma TT flew down so we could head to Palm Desert for a girl's weekend. It was very relaxing! We went for walks, swam, went to the outdoor markets and had fun with just the girls. Thankfully, Grandma TT had lots of energy to entertain Cora so I could relax a bit. A much needed vacation!

Just back from a great trip to California. We started with a few days in Los Angeles meeting Cora's new cousin, Eli, and visiting Aunt Amy and Uncle Matt. Eli is absolutely adorable and Cora loved kissing and holding him. While we were there, we did an Easter Egg hunt (thanks to Aunt Amy), headed to the beach in Malibu, explored Pasadena where were staying, enjoyed a quick visit with Papa Steve and Grandma Tanna and spent a morning at Griffith Park and the Observatory. It was great to get a little sun after a rainy winter and spring in Portland. Our last vacation as a family of three because baby #2 is due to arrive in less than six weeks....
