The Adventures of Dave, Lindsay, Cora and Edie

Much like her parents, Cora spends most of her days wearing comfy pants and sweatshirts but every now and then....we get her all dolled up to hit the town. Any excuse we have to put her in some of the adorable clothes her Grandma TT has bought her. Here are some of her holiday outfits and I will say, I've never seen someone look so cute in tights!

My favorite day of the week. Tuesday through Friday is total chaos with two working parents and juggling our childcare arrangements. Weekends are spent catching our breath, getting the house in order and paying a little attention to our first child, Peeka. But Mondays....it's just Cora and I. Sometimes we venture out to visit friends for part of the day (Picture #1 - Michelle, John and Julia, Picture #2 - Kendra and Willa) but sometimes we stay snuggled up in the house all day long just seeing where the day takes us. I love Mondays!

Not sure what her motivation is, but after a good feeding Cora has recently taken to spacing off upside down. She spends 10 minutes or so staring out the window... like this.

This weekend, we headed out to one of Oregon's famous Christmas tree farms to get our tree. It was windy and COLD but we were determined. And today, we visited Santa for some photos of Cora's first Christmas. I asked Santa if he could tell me what Cora wants for Christmas and he said...an elephant. Interesting.... Pumpkin patch, Oregon Coast, crazy dogs, and Uncle Matt was in town....what a perfect Fall day!

Today our little lady is 3 months old! I won't go into details but it's hard to believe that wonderful yet incredibly painful day (physically, that is) that she came into this world was 3 months ago. Yikes. Totally worth it, of course. It's been a big week for us. I went back to work on Thursday and will be working Tuesday through Friday while Cora is at the YMCA two days and with Dave and Grandma TT the other two days. I am sad that I won't have the opportunity to be with her all the time but also feel lucky that we have the support and flexibility in our jobs. Last night, we took Cora to her first adult party and she was loving it. I tried to put her down at about 9:30pm but she just stared at me and smiled. So....she partied until 11pm and then slept until 8am this morning. Dave actually went in to check on her and she was laying in her crib giggling. She's a happy girl! Her favorite thing to do at the moment is stare at ceiling lights and she could do it for hou...

Summer '09 was a memorable one. Yes, it brought baby Cora, but that didn't stop the wheels on this bus. Cora is 12 weeks old and already she's been on a 2,300 mile road trip and 2 round trip flights for a total of 6 states visited. She is her mother's daughter and Lindsay soaked up her maternity leave like nobody's business. Good news is, we've got nothing planned for a looooong time. Bad news is, that gives Lindsay a lot of time to plan for the next round of travel. So a trip to Utah to visit family and a trip to SoCal to soak up some sun were the latest ventures for the fam. A few photos to show how much fun she's having. (Yes, we're sometimes guilty of dressing our daughter up like a doll. Tough to pass up!)

"It takes a whole village to raise a child." Dave and I were talking about this on our way home from Montana. We have been so thankful for all the love and support from our friends and family as we transition to parenthood. Sweet cards, wonderful gifts and tons of hand-me-down baby clothes and equipment. We really appreciate all of it - THANK YOU! We feel very fortunate to have such a strong community and are excited for all of you to be a part of Cora's life.

It's been nice to be home after our long roadtrip. But...the traveling has only just begun. Cora's Uncle Brent came to town for a few days and tomorrow we're off to Utah to visit more family. Cora's first time on a plane - wish us luck! Now we'll finally feel the pain of all those parents we've watched for years dragging a car seat and diaper bag on the plane while carrying a small child.

Last week, we left on our 10-day trip to Idaho and Montana to visit family and friends and introduce them to our little girl. First stop was Post Falls and Coeur d' Alene where we played with Grammy Jill and lots of Dave's family. Cora got to meet some of her cousins. Then we were off to Missoula to stay with friends before heading to the Flathead Valley, where we lived for 2 1/2 years (and where Grandpa Bruce, Grandma Mimi a lot of Dave's siblings live). There is truly nothing better than a beautiful sunset on Flathead Lake! Cora has been a good little traveler as long as we keep her diaper dry and tummy full. It's definitely a change of pace traveling with a 6-week old but we're lovin' it.

We've had a busy week with a visit from Uncle Matt and Aunt Amy, who flew up from LA. Then we headed up to Anderson Island in Washington to spend some time with our friends who were housesitting at a B&B. At our appointment today, Cora weighed 9 lbs. 6 oz. On Tuesday, Cora will be 1-month old!

Cora is now 3 1/2 weeks old, which is hard to believe. We took her in for her first doctor's appointment a week ago and she weighed 8 lbs 13 ounces so she's a good eater (she was 7 lbs 10 oz when she was born). The best part is now we can let her sleep for up to 6 hours at night without waking her up to feed her - glorious! Since it's been over 100 degrees in Portland the last few days, we decided to leave our hot house behind and head to the Oregon Coast. It was the best decision we've ever made as it was MUCH cooler out there and a perfect little getaway. Cora slept in the car, on the beach, in the sling and pretty much everywhere we went. When we got home, she took her first bath with mom and loved it.

Our first week with the little lady has flown by and we're amazed at how quickly the time passes just snuggling her and keeping her belly full. We've got quite a little sleeper on our hands and estimate she sleeps around 20 hours each day. At this point, she incredibly mellow but we know it probably won't last. Here is a glimpse at what Cora has done in her first week (besides eating, sleeping and getting her diaper changed): -First trip to the doctor's office for a follow-up visit. We learned that she's gaining weight and eating well so that's good news. -Had a newborn photo shoot and peed all over Dad -Survived an Oregon heat wave of 90 degree plus weather that is supposed to continue through this week (No, we do not have AC) -Greeted several visitors who have snuggled on her but only seen her eyelids -Spent an afternoon at G & G's down in Canby -Went to her first movie (Away We Go) and didn't make a sound -Went to sushi because after 9 months off,...
