Are we insane?

We are just coming home from a trip to Boston, Maine and New York wondering if we're insane or just in denial that we can't travel how we used to with a 15-month old in tow. Hmmm.....

It was a great time visiting friends, exploring both Boston and New York, and driving through small, quaint towns in Maine and New Hampshire enjoying Fall foliage (including a day in Acadia National Park). Cora was actually a fantastic traveler other than the occasional meltdown due to: sleep deprivation, too much time in the car, over stimulation or just a longing to get out of the damn stroller and explore on her own two feet! We found that the train is a fantastic way to travel with a little one and our backpack full of books, snacks and other forms of entertainment definitely came in handy. Cora got to meet her new boyfriend, Dylan, in New York and he introduced her to her new obsession - ELMO. Of course, we had to get her a small Elmo doll and she hasn't put it down since. It seems as though she is a completely different child from when we left for this trip. She talks constantly and can say many words clearly and is on the verge of running. We've got an independent and strong wiled little girl on our hands!

We made a promise while we took the train from Boston to New York that we WILL NOT take another trip like this until Cora is older and can at least carry her own bag. It's been fun but we're exhausted and now we need a real vacation....

Pictures coming soon.

That sounds like such an awesome trip Lindsay!! I'm sure Cora had a blast too, but I can definitely understand that vacations are just not "vacations" with little ones. :) Can't wait to see pictures!!

We recently had family photos taken in the Columbia Gorge by a wonderful couple who travel around the world with their two kids taking pictures. I just love how they turned out!

Manzanita and more...

Since my last post, a lot has happened in our household.  We took our first camping trip of the year to Silver Falls State Park and survived!  Cora even got to try smores for the first time.   Edie turned 1 on June 4th and just a few weeks before took her first ambulance rider to the ER due to an infection - ugh!  She's fine now...thankfully. We figure it's our first of many trips to the ER with two very busy little girls.  (On a side note, Cora thought riding in the ambulance was really fun!) I came down with a ridiculous case of Poison Oak that was awful for about three weeks and continues to haunt me.  It seems I'm quite allergic!  Thankfully, no one else got it.  Dave drove himself to the ER in the middle of the night for an emergency appendicectomy that ended up being (and still is) more complicated than normal because of the scar tissue left in his stomach from the car accident.  That was a few weeks ago and his...
