Movin' to the OC

Oregon City, that is. We recently rented a nice little 3-bedroom house in the historic part of downtown Oregon City. It's a mellow, blue-collar town about 20 minutes southeast of Portland and we're psyched to have found a place after running all over the city for weeks looking at houses.

The house is within walking distance to all the basic necessities - places to walk Peeka, a cafe, restaurants, a funky little downtown, the willamette river and more. We also just discovered that the park just a few blocks away has live music every week in the summer - BONUS! Our official move in date is July 1st when we will open up the storage unit and see our belongings for the first time in 8 months. A bit overwhelming but I'm sure it will be like Christmas when we see all the clothes and sporting equipment that we forgot we had. I think what I'm most excited for is to finally sleep in our own bed and have our own kitchen again. The simple things.

This is Dave's first week of classes and he's currently enrolled in Chemistry 100, the first of many chemistry and biology classes he has to take in order to apply for a Physician's Assistant program in 2010 (his B.S. in Public Communications is not helping much). He also needs to get over 1,000 hands-on medical hours to round out his resume so the next few years will be busy. A long road ahead but definitely worth it.

We'll be sticking close to home this summer to save money and explore our new home but we're always happy to have visitors and, as of next week, we'll even have a guest bedroom for anyone interested in making the trek to the OC. Until then...

Wow, 3 bedrooms.. spacious! That will be so fun to see all your things, and organize and decorate. I can't imagine being in transit for 8 months... but then again, it definitely was the time to do it!

We recently had family photos taken in the Columbia Gorge by a wonderful couple who travel around the world with their two kids taking pictures. I just love how they turned out!

Manzanita and more...

Since my last post, a lot has happened in our household.  We took our first camping trip of the year to Silver Falls State Park and survived!  Cora even got to try smores for the first time.   Edie turned 1 on June 4th and just a few weeks before took her first ambulance rider to the ER due to an infection - ugh!  She's fine now...thankfully. We figure it's our first of many trips to the ER with two very busy little girls.  (On a side note, Cora thought riding in the ambulance was really fun!) I came down with a ridiculous case of Poison Oak that was awful for about three weeks and continues to haunt me.  It seems I'm quite allergic!  Thankfully, no one else got it.  Dave drove himself to the ER in the middle of the night for an emergency appendicectomy that ended up being (and still is) more complicated than normal because of the scar tissue left in his stomach from the car accident.  That was a few weeks ago and his...
