Parque Nacional de los Glaciares

Yep, we´re hiking in Glacier National Park. Sadly, it´s nothing like the Park we have back at home. There are a few mountains in this park that are like nothing we´ve ever seen, but more importantly, the glaciers here are gigantic. About 200 miles long. They make our glaciers look like someone dropped a roll of paper towels on a windy day. Little here, little there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hielo_Sur We tried to get a guide to take us up to the ice field, but it´s late in the season and we missed the opportunity. But we still got to see some amazing smaller glaciers, and enjoyed views of Mount Fitz Roy (first two photos) and Cerro Torre (third photo).

Lindsay and Kori went on a nice overnighter by themselves and enjoyed their own pace and didn´t have to endure another night of stinky boys. I think they liked it and were lucky enough to have clear views the entire time. The boys went off to climb on some ice and get to a peak where we could at least see the ice field. Again, the glaciers leading to the peak were too broken up after a long summer and we had to cut the day trip short. But we got to climb down into a crevasse and do a little ice climibing. It was my first time but Brent talked me through it. Very cool experience, we hope to do more if it in the future.

After much debate, we have decided to move on from El Chalten, the little mountain town we´ve been basing operations out of. We´re moving north to see more parks and different scenery. Bus, plane, boat, train, car... we´re not sure how we´re doing it, but we´re moving on anyway. This little town is a bear to get to and from. (And missing a bank, money exchange or almost any place to use plastic.) But worth the visit.

P.S. The last photo is Dave and Brent on a bad hair day!

I like checking your website once in a while to see what you guys have been up to. I would check it more frequently however I must admit that after I see the amazing places you have been I can't help but feel a little...ok a lot jealous that I am not traveling the world myself. Maybe in 17 years when the little ones are in college!

We recently had family photos taken in the Columbia Gorge by a wonderful couple who travel around the world with their two kids taking pictures. I just love how they turned out!

Cora and the boys

Dave's friends, Scotty, Ryan and Danny, have been taking good care of us this week. We're thinking about asking them to move in long-term! Ryan is currently making us a fancy breakfast and Danny is still trying to find us the perfect Subaru Forrester to purchase.

Cora Biedel Nelson

We welcomed Cora at 5:41pm on Saturday, July 18th after 12 hours of labor. Thanks to the help of our wonderful doula, Carissa, we were able to stay at home for the first 6 hours of labor. Our nurses and midwife at Kaiser Sunnyside were wonderful and helped Lindsay get through the labor and delivery drug-free. We came home today and are already lost in the world of poopy diapers, feeding and getting sleep when we can. Oh the thrill of sleep deprivation! We'll be in touch when we get our heads above water.
