Bolivia

After about 3 1/2 weeks in Peru, we have crossed the border into Bolivia. We were ready for a change of scenery and were actually in a bit of a travel funk our last few days in Peru. I suppose that happens after 4 months of "being on the road!" (I know..hard to believe it has been that long since we pulled out of Kalispell in our HUGE Uhaul truck) Thankfully, little brother Brent was there to add some humor to our days! The morning he left, we took a bus across the border and, thankfully, had no issues along the way. And then we pulled into the quaint little lakefront town of Copacabana (yes, we have been singing the song constantly)....and found just what we needed to get our spirits up. Beautiful views of Lake Titicaca, a small town to explore and a great little hostal on the hill with DVDs in English, wonderful food (which we discovered they would happily deliver to the TV room) and not a care in the world. We did make a day excursion to Isla del Sol to explore the island by foot and take in more lake views. And we met a great father and son pair from Indiana who we ended up spending the last few days with.
Today, we took a short bus ride to La Paz, the highest capital city in the world! At first glance, it`s a beautiful city with a lot going on and huge mountains in every direction. We only have two weeks in Bolivia before we fly down to the most southern point of Argentina, the town of Ushuaia, to meet our friends, Brent and Kori, for some serious Patagonia trekking. Until then, we will get our butts in shape by hiking the hills of La Paz! And I am officially on vacation the next two weeks because Dave is responsible for planning our time in Bolivia. It`s glorious...

Manzanita and more...

Since my last post, a lot has happened in our household.  We took our first camping trip of the year to Silver Falls State Park and survived!  Cora even got to try smores for the first time.   Edie turned 1 on June 4th and just a few weeks before took her first ambulance rider to the ER due to an infection - ugh!  She's fine now...thankfully. We figure it's our first of many trips to the ER with two very busy little girls.  (On a side note, Cora thought riding in the ambulance was really fun!) I came down with a ridiculous case of Poison Oak that was awful for about three weeks and continues to haunt me.  It seems I'm quite allergic!  Thankfully, no one else got it.  Dave drove himself to the ER in the middle of the night for an emergency appendicectomy that ended up being (and still is) more complicated than normal because of the scar tissue left in his stomach from the car accident.  That was a few weeks ago and his...
